Woking Community Grocery
Long-term food security, dignity and support for Woking
The Woking Community Grocery will help individuals and families access affordable food, build stability, and move forward with confidence.
By providing reliable, discounted food alongside practical wraparound support, Woking Community Grocery is designed to strengthen lives — and, in turn, strengthen our town.
What is a Community Grocery?
The Community Grocery is a welcoming social supermarket designed to bridge the gap between food banks and supermarkets - offering reliable, affordable food, dignity and wraparound support, saving members up to £2500 per year off their shopping bills.
Alongside the Grocery, our Community Hub offers a friendly space where members can connect over free tea or coffee and be part of a supportive community.
Every member also gains access to Welcome Works — our programme of practical courses and support including debt advice, money coaching, cooking skills, wellbeing groups, life skills workshops, and job clubs — all designed to equip people with tools for a stronger future.

Getting here
Welcome Church is a 5-minute walk from Woking train station, and from all central bus stops. We also have bike racks for cyclists.
Parking
We are delighted to have parking available for our grocery members. The Community Grocery car park is located directly behind the grocery building (9-11 Church Street West), with the entrance just to the right of the building.
Important note on parking: please avoid parking in the Welcome Church car park on Oaks Road. This area is managed by an external company that automatically issues fines, and we want to help our members avoid any unexpected costs. Please use the designated Grocery car park behind the building instead.
Our Partners
We are deeply grateful to our funders — Benefact Trust, Garfield Weston Foundation, Laing Family Trust, Woking Healthy Communities Partnership Board, and Community Foundation for Surrey — for their generous investment in the renovation of this building.
Their support has made it possible for us to create a welcoming space that will host and sustain Woking Community Grocery for years to come, and where our community can be supported and connected and valued.
Partner With Us
To make Woking Community Grocery sustainable, we are seeking partners who share our heart for Woking and want to be part of a long‑term solution.
There are several ways to get involved:
Businesses: corporate giving or sponsorship, supporting a specific area of the project, and employee-matched giving.
Individuals and Supporters: one‑off or regular financial support and gifts in memory or legacy giving.
Expertise and Networks: advice, skills, or connections that could strengthen the project.
We’re not looking for quick wins — we’re looking for the right partnerships that will help this work thrive over time.
